Openwork panels: semi-transparent ornaments
These are panels with an open ornament that let light and air through without opening up the wall: they are used as a top finish, over a closed body. Two options — Quinta, with an X lattice, and Holly Vine, with a vine arch. Panel 2000 × 500 mm, material from 25 €/m² in grey and 33 €/m² in white, made to order.
What they are for
A wall closed off completely at 2 metres solves privacy but also shuts out the light and the air, and along a long run it can look heavy. The open top course cuts that effect: the body of the wall stays opaque at the height of a passer-by, and the last course opens up.
It is also a question of wind. An open gap along the top lets part of the flow through instead of blocking it completely, which relieves the load on the highest part of the wall.
They combine with any texture in the catalogue, because the height is built up in independent layers. The most requested combination is a Classic Wood body with a Quinta top: the body blocks the view and the open band at the top lets the light through.

X-shaped grid
A geometric design, repeated crosses. It is the more neutral of the two and the one that goes best with smooth and timber textures. An orderly look, with no decorative theme.

An organic design, arches with foliage. More decorative and more prominent; it works well over stone-textured bodies and in a rural or farm setting.

Frequently asked questions
Can I make the whole wall from openwork panels?
Technically they fit like any other panel, and some people build entire fences this way, as a decorative feature. The usual configuration is a solid body with one openwork layer at the top course.
Do they reduce the wall's security?
Being at the top, above 1.5 m, it does not make access any easier. The body of the wall below remains solid reinforced concrete, with the same strength as any other panel.
Do they cost more than a standard panel?
They start from the same price per m² as the standard textures. The difference is availability: they are produced to order, they are not held in the warehouse.
How many openwork courses are usually used?
Usually one, 500 mm, at the top. Two already change the character of the wall considerably and reduce privacy from a short distance away.
